The challenge is pretty simple: Drink a gallon of water a day for an entire month and enjoy the benefits, from better skin to better sleep. Drinking water is vital to our overall well-being and plays a major role in several ways, including helping our bodies eliminate waste, regulating body temperature, transporting nutrients to cells, and protecting organs and the tissues. Additionally, drinking water helps you feel hydrated and increases your energy levels. Eat this, not that! I spoke with three people who recently completed the 30 gallon water challenge, and here’s what happened.

Don’t forget: Drinking a gallon of water a day may not be right for everyone. Consult a healthcare professional before beginning this challenge, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are in a vulnerable age group. Results may vary and drinking too much water without balancing electrolytes can lead to health problems.

Everyone takes on the challenge for different reasons, and Samuel Davisowner and CEO of Gardeners of London, made it a personal goal to “boost my energy and improve my concentration”. He particularly wanted to feel a better version of himself during the peak of his gardening activity in the spring. However, he didn’t realize how often he would need to be near the toilet.

“I forgot to drink enough, especially when participating in projects or meetings. I was also surprised by how many bathroom trips one could expect,” he says.

Although there were some bumps throughout the month, he rose to the challenge; he liked the result. “Staying hydrated is a literal game-changer when it comes to productivity and overall well-being, but it tends to cut both ways. This experience reminded me how small changes can actually have a pretty big impact. “

Learn to consume as much water

One of the greatest difficulties for Daniel Vasquezthe owner of Dynamic Auto Moverswas learning to fit as much water into his schedule throughout the day.

“The hardest part was deciding when to take it, not how much,” he says. “I didn’t expect my whole day to be centered around water!” He explains: “I learned the hard way that you have to space things appropriately. If I didn’t do this, I would feel bloated and have to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes, which would slow down my productivity. an hour rather than trying to take it all in at once helped.”

Luc Seddonowner and CEO of H2 Catering Equipmentadmitted that finding time in her daily schedule to drink a gallon of water was a huge challenge. “Drinking a gallon of water requires constant attention, which frequently interrupts my daily activities, especially during meetings or when traveling to meet with clients,” he says. “It’s not just about drinking water, but also making sure you can easily step away when you need to.”

To help him drink a gallon of water a day, Seddon set an alarm every two hours, which reminded him to drink. He also carried a water bottle everywhere he went and refilled it as needed.

Davis hoped the 30-day gallon water challenge would increase his energy, and that’s what happened.

“I realized that I had a lot more energy than usual, especially late in the afternoon, when I really want to sleep,” he explains. “Plus, my skin seemed much more hydrated than before.”

Better digestion

The biggest change for Davis was better digestion.

“The first thing I noticed on my water regime was a change in digestion; I felt less bloated and the best part was that I was more regular,” he says. “It also reduced my hunger to some extent, making me less frisky throughout the day.”

For Vasquez, the most notable change was a significant decrease in his appetite.

“One surprising difference was how much it reduced my appetite,” he says, which included stopping midday cravings. “I didn’t expect the water to have such an effect on my appetite, but it did.” He adds: “By staying full, I naturally started eating less quantities without trying. This is an underappreciated benefit of the gallon problem that people need to discuss more.”

What has changed for Seddon is his ability to focus in a way he didn’t before. “I definitely focused a lot better and was overall energetic throughout the day,” he says. “Hydration definitely made thoughts clearer, so decision-making was faster, but allowed me to stay alert without using caffeine to keep me going at specific times of the day.”

How to incorporate a gallon of water into your day

It’s not easy to drink so much water a day. Between meetings, deadlines, and other priorities, it’s difficult to fit in countless bathroom breaks and remember to drink often enough to finish a gallon. But Davis found a system that worked for him and shared the following tips:

Start early: Before breakfast, start your day with a large glass of water. This sets the tone for the day and gets you off to a good start.

Break it down: Shooting four 32-ounce bottles is much more feasible than going for that big old gallon. It’s so much less.
